My GE was expiring so was my passport.
I started the GE renewal process, then renewed my passport.
I am still waiting for the approved for an interview, so I cannot do Enrollment on Arrival.
I have my new passport, but you cannot update your passport number during the renewal process.
I have a flight coming up in a few weeks.

Assuming I do not have my approval for an interview, I assume I am not eligible for GE?

I had to change my name due to marriage and could only do so by going in person to the closest enrollment center, CLT, with my new passport. If they take walk-ins for name changes maybe they will do the same for passport number changes? I called ahead to be sure that I could just walk in, and they said no problem. The officer just took a few minutes to update my name in the system and I was on my way. I would call your local enrollment center or an enrollment center at an airport you will be passing through, and ask if you can do passport number change as walk-in. Good luck!
