Since reading this thread, I've noticed (because I knew to look for it) the overheating problem in addition to my laptop's warnings that the FT site was causing the computer to run slowly and use lots of energy. I think I've also gotten warnings about memory usage, but I might be confusing that with weather.com.
I've usually got multiple tabs and browsers of FT open, and on my Macs I often have to have some sites stopped so as to stop the sites that are slowing down my use of whatever site/tab/browser I'm currently using. FT is one of the ones I have had to try to stop at times in order to make things run more smoothly for me in some ways. For what it's worth, I've had this issue less in the past day or two than I had in the weeks prior. And it was applicable (in this time frame too) to the machines running the High Sierra release of MacOS too.
