We stayed at the Regal in mid-December, for just this reason. We had no idea what we'd find, and also only had a short overnight stay between flights. The convenience was definitely the right choice.
However, we must have had The Worst Room, but we were too tired to bother to complain and change. After all, we were exhausted and just wanted to sleep. The "window" looked out to a dead end hallway. That was a first. We obviously just kept the drapes closed, and that was no doubt why they were closed when we were shown to the room. It was also a very odd shape with too much space and not enough place(s) to sit, other than the bed.
And the room seemed, uh, "reasonably clean"...
We were able to head to CX F lounge the next morning, and that was a nice relief.
