I always carry the card, so not an issue. This year, without having the front of UA's card available on the UA app, it will be difficult for those without a physical card to gain entry to LH or LX lounges.
I have flown my shares of INTL *A flights in Y, and have never had any issue with lounge access. You can write-off of not flying business class as the need to present physical card.
Only times I have been asked for my card is when I am flying *A, but not crediting to *A.
