Cosmile doesn't seem particularly exciting at the moment, but it seems that for their status match, if you do it before 2021, you will get 4 years of status. Based on their current routes, I can't see many people gaining status from flying, and they would at least want some people to use the lounges since there's 8 business class seats per flight.
They probably won't have any long haul flight till 3 years in, so that 4 years really is only useful for less than 2 years.
The lounge area in TPE is not large so I don't think it mattered. They are using the original spot from Thai in Terminal 1.
