I will also say that AA's JFK schedule is getting awfully quiet these days compared to their other hubs. Terminal 8 is never really that busy, so it's unlikely you'd be delayed for reasons reasons like waiting for a gate to open up, etc. (I've found that does happen quite often when I've connected through LAX.)
