Interesting...I see this too. Looks like AA is testing out UA's purely dollars-based qualification option without raising the existing requirements (for now).
I imagine this will only increase the number of EXPs, though.
If they’re spending 24 grand a year on AA/partners*, they deserve it.
*Admittedly, you can do it for less on partner airlines.
