Zipair currently doesn't have any inter line agreements in place. On the miles side, AS has been quite content not to have partnerships with wholly owned subsidiaries of their partners (see Dragon Air & CX).

If Zip takes the PDX route, I guess JAL are not seeing a great yield potential in the route.
DL is switching PDX to HND, so there's an "opportunity" to NRT, although without feed at either end, perhaps not much of one.

On the other hand, maybe a more Y focus and lower cost can make it a more profitable route than with traditional international JAL service.
