The ability to earn a life-time elite status is a strong motivator. I know of five carriers that offer this opportunity on an ongoing basis -- not counting CO's short-lived Infinite Elite promotion if attaining
five (!) years of top-level status through 1992 -- but there are undoubtedly others.
