M&B has been a great program for status, but for a long time it's been a terrible program for awards due to:
1. Low earnings in many classes.
2. The ridiculous rule of maximum two flights per one-way award.
3. The even worse rule about no mixed classes.
4. Low availability for award seats for several airlines.
5. Often very high fuel surcharges.
With this sudden raise in award mileage, M&B is now a horrible program for award redemptions. Maybe it's time to move away from M&B to some other program.
ad.1. Incredibly high earning in sas, premium economy 200%
ad.2 Yeah stupid rule but look at British Airways you pay points for each segment
ad.3. United have also stupid rule which I found out with mixed clases
I booked LHR-IST (J) 25000 /DPS-SIN (J) 0 miles due united perks/IST-LHR (Y) 15000 miles for 3 pax
but then I tried book the same routing I found only mixed class left for 1 sector LHR-VIE-IST first Y second J and in the end United wanted 25k+25k+15k = 65k for the same routing....
ende booked pax via ZRH in both J
ad.4. True but lots airlines keeping avalibility for own FF
ad.5 very low on LOT,SAS
and big advantedge You can pool all miles form Your family and friends(6 per year) into one account.....
and cool special routings sweet spots like ANA F for 75k now....
but on other way
increasing redemption ticket cost without notice is no go for me....but still It's easy program to retain GOLD for next year
I'm Gold till March 2021 now....
and it took me to spend 500Euro per year to extend it
