Apart from a view of plastic sheeting the renovations were unnoticeable inside, the lounge does get busy on Friday and Saturday evenings ( I asked Jackson , head dragon of the lounge ) however I always arrive at 5-50pm on the dot and have yet failed to get a seat, it’s normally half full, arrive after 6pm and you may not , it really does full up quickly after 6pm.
That said there is always a great atmosphere during happy hour and Jackson is a great host.
My other option is the Trafalgar St James from which I have a great room preference with a view of the square... no lounge or anything but, I'm kind of in love with the place. I've never stayed at the Waldorf though that's why I booked it. I'm just on the fence tbh.
