If you go to Delta.com, there are 2 tools that may help. You can use Flight Information to find where your originating flight will arrive at SLC and where your connecting flight will depart. There is also a map of the terminal. Actual distances are not shown but you will know if your flights are 2 gates apart or at opposite ends.
Just remember that gates do change from time to time.
