NAIA has security at the entry doors. You need to show them your that-day itinerary before they let you in. I usually print out to be safe, but I've seen others show them their phone.
In practice, if you are obviously non-Filipino and show a foreign passport they will let you in. I have not shown a ticket or itinerary for a long time now and have had no problems; I fly out of MNL 6-8 times a year.
