Keys are expensive, so the property wants them back. $$$ > environment, so this is one of those instances where it takes care of itself.
Absolutely no hotel keycard system I've ever worked with or heard of stores any personal data whatsoever on the card.
Obviously, every card has some sort of location and time access window and someone with the requisite technology could pull those details from an existing card, but that's not what would be considered personal data.
I made clear the vast majority dont put CC details on cards. However there's more than just one or two that do.
Last time I asked the keys were not expensive at all. Even the RFID type while more expensive than a mag stripe isnt terribly expensive.
