I'm not sure if the timing is right to fly NW into NRT and MH onwards -- I seem to recall that MH's last flight of the day leaves before you would get there.
Since this is an award flight, have you considered flying MH LAX-(TPE)-KUL-HKT? I understand you can actually get MH in F, which everyone raves about. I've only flown MH in Business, which is nice, although the seat pitch isn't as much as I'd like. Service is very nice, and the Golden Club lounge in KUL is not to be missed -- espcially if KUL-HKT is a two class flight (meaning you'd be ticketed in First, so you could use the F side of the lounge).
Conversely, I'd think you could possibly do CMH-EWR-(ARN)-KUL-HKT which might have better timing for you.
I'd do MH in F if at all possible, is what I'm saying
