Agreed. While it’s better than nothing, the current Chinook/WS lounge at YYC’s A concourse looks and feels so dated - like a tired basement reno from the 1990s. And the food service in there (even the new version since WS took it over) just comes across as amateur.
I doubt WestJet’s new lounges will reach the level of Amex’s Centurion Lounges (they’re the gold standard, IMO) since those are probably really, really expensive to operate. Still, I hope WS sends their team to some of those Centurions to see how it could be done.
