To write and post Im confused... rather than doing five minutes of research to clear up his confusion? Wow.
This guy is usually a pretty good travel writer. But, come on man, do a tiny bit of research before writing a piece. At the very least, he could have Googled a YYC terminal map.

I doubt WestJets new lounges will reach the level of Amexs Centurion Lounges (theyre the gold standard, IMO) since those are probably really, really expensive to operate. Still, I hope WS sends their team to some of those Centurions to see how it could be done.

Agreed. While its better than nothing, the current Chinook/WS lounge at YYCs A concourse looks and feels so dated - like a tired basement reno from the 1990s. And the food service in there (even the new version since WS took it over) just comes across as amateur.
I doubt WestJets new lounges will reach the level of Amexs Centurion Lounges (theyre the gold standard, IMO) since those are probably really, really expensive to operate. Still, I hope WS sends their team to some of those Centurions to see how it could be done.

Not that Im cynical, but Ill take Fall 2020 for my bet!
(Both WS and YYCAA are great organizations that do many wonderful things, but neither are known for on-time project execution.)

My professional life has been spent being affected by badly compromised schedules and budgets in Over 30 years I'm only aware of a single project in my industry that has come in both on time and on budget.

I know they all often write about the WS-DL relationship and perhaps these articles will help DL flyers on WS.

Since taking over the existing domestic lounge in YYC, they have continued to permit Priority Pass card holders to have access. I wonder if they will do the same with this new lounge?
If they follow in the footsteps of Delta that would also be an interesting move. Delta has a deal with AMEX, where there platinum card members have access to Delta lounges, but only when flying on a Delta flight.

As someone who does not have status but has an Amex Platinum with Priority Pass I would that they invite Priority Pass members into the lounge. Realistically I don't think it will happen though. I don't think they will see the benefit of it initially. They will try to keep the product exclusive to try to sell more premium seats. Maybe after some period of time when the new-ness has worn off and they look at driving more revenue through the lounge they will bring in Priority Pass or offer lounge passes to lesser fare passengers.
Anyone know what the plan for the old WS lounge is?

It says that this new WS lounge will go where the Montana’s restaurant used to be. (It just closed recently. It was located in a landside retail area, near what used to be the entrance to the domestic B gates.)
If that’s correct, it’d be kinda odd. I can’t think of many high-end lounges that don't have lots of natural light. (There are certainly some lounges that don’t - like at YEG and YWG - but those ain’t flagship locations. And at YEG, the fact that they’re on the second floor means the ‘interior windows’ kind of work — you can see outside. The Amex Centurion at IAH is also windowless, but that's more the exception for a true, high-end lounge.)
If it’s in the old Montana’s, there’s no possible way for it to have direct access to any light or views.
Sure, the old Montana’s had “sort-of” views. It had interior windows facing onto the connection corridor between the B and C concourses — so diners could look out (ie through the corridor, over the Link golf cart track, and past the moving sidewalks) and see outside. And passengers could see right into the restaurant through those same windows, too. I really, really doubt that they’d put interior windows like that on a premium/flagship lounge... having Premium customers and lounge guests on display behind glass would be awkward.
So, no natural light, and no views. If the rumoured location is correct, it’ll be a big windowless room.
Can anyone here confirm?

I was told at one point the plan was to move to a single combined security point for A, B and C.
