Based on the comments thus far in this thread, I dare say that others disagree with your self assessment.
While we get your disdain for free maps loud and clear, the current ones will surely show every single subway station that's within the areas covered. As such, they would serve your stated objective of filling in new subway lines on your old map much better than zooming in and out on Google.
3. That's exactly what I planned on doing. For the missing stations in between the transfer points, I can refer to maps.me. whenever I need to hop on the metro at a nearby station.
This is reasonable.
