Imagine running a hotel and you hold 10 rooms a night for people who never show up. I have never heard of a hotel loyalty perk that will hold a room for you until you decide to arrive. Sorry, but it is not their "problem or mistake" when people don't show up past a certain time. I've always called if I was going to be late, and it has never been a problem.
AFAIK the industry standard at least in the USA is to hold any guaranteed reservation until checkout time the following day. In practice, it's wise to call the hotel if you will be arriving late, but failure to do so doesn't cancel a guaranteed reservation.
If the ten empty rooms are paid, this is better for the hotel than having them filled with guests, although of course in practice hotels do overbook.
