Worked pretty easily to do both mine and my wife's. Used the Android app, verification e-mail was sent quickly, completed verification, and done.
And the AC app no longer tells me my mobile+ password is wrong!

Did you try? Or just go by what was required (which did not include a special character, granted)? My wife's new password has a special character, so it's definitely allowed.
