That would be incredibly petty if you had to pay for the tonic water...then they might as well revise the policy to 'half a free drink'.
I once had to pay for tonic as Lumo. Any other time G&T was just fine even for a companion. Missing Sisu drink, though - good old SkyBistro, should I say.

At least some instructions are written in an internal guideline for the crew. That was shown to me when I was paying my tonic. However, the wording didn't differ from the website and another chief of the cabin confirmed their training was a bit different in terms of Lumo service. I suppose OWE case may suffer from a similar problem.
