I typically connect through MIA coming out of the Caribbean and know the drill there. Any substantial differences, pain points, etc., clearing customs and connecting through ORD? Layover/Connecting times of 2-3 hours to DCA for both options.

I don't have Global Entry / TSA Precheck. Will fly in F so should be quickly off the plane. I will have one very large and heavy (but not over-weight) checked bag and a couple small carry-ons. (so the less I have to do in terms of distance - both baggage recheck/drop and walking to most likely terminal connection - the much better). Lounges not a factor.

Any preferences on connecting/clearing customs at either airport in my situation?
