The 100k MR offer is periodic and targeted. Just something to keep in mind. The 100k MR would send you to Asia Return/Open-Jaw in business (I did a 5 business class segments open-jaw award last year for 96K MR).
The Gold is a great card particularly if you spend a lot at dining, including many bars, and grocery where you can pickup gift cards for things like gas to earn points more effectively. Recouping the annual fee is quite easy in my opinion between the airline fee credit, $10 monthly limited dining credit & amex offers I end up making money each year). I also believe there is a 60k Amex Gold referral offer going around so ask someone you know or here for one. Same for the CIU and maybe the CIP when it comes to referrals.

I'm self employed and spend a good amount for business.

Thanks for the helpful info!
