In reading this thread (although only the last few pages) or seems to me that except for one lucky soul who is at 110 days and counting this should only take a couple of months from renewal and if there is a hold up there is a six month grace period. I hate to apply too early for the renewal - reminds me of having to apply for a passport so it has more than six months validity even though you paid for ten years (for the passport) and for GE for five years.

Just trying to get an idea of the right timing to apply for the renewal.

Renewal is based n your birth date so renewing now will result in the same 5 years being added to your GE term as if you renewed the day before expiry.
