You didn't read by whole post. When it comes to plane tickets most are NONCHG. Being non-changeable has nothing to do with being able to use the value towards a new ticket. BE have a restriction that the value cant be used for a new ticket.

It's just like being refundable doesnt mean you can get the whole amount back. You could have a 50% penalty.
