Unhappy ? to dress or not to dress or what about some decency ?

We are all are getting used to poorly dressed people in airport lounges and plane cabins, not much can be done about it. Even at the traditional "luxury" hotels one sees many disgusting things and class, respect and decorum are notions of the past.

Until this summer I was convinced that going to multi Michelin starred places saves me from men in shorts (the kind mostly North American people and increasingly also puritanical Europeans bizarrely swim with - not tailored dress shorts) and flip flops. How wrong I was: This July in two three Michelin star restaurants, one two Michelin star place and a lovely Château with one Michelin star In France, I observed several extremely poorly dressed (and behaving) people much to the embarrassment of the staff. In one instance when being asked to change, a "gentlemen" began to show a DYKWIA attitude. Really distressing while you want to enjoy a special moment.

Yes, it was hot, but with nice air conditioning inside and one guy literally came with his "boardhorts" or whatever you call them from the pool.

Am I old fashioned or will we have soon this as the new normality that everything goes and no minimum dress code is enforced and no respect shown. Opera houses will be the next......

At a time the Relais & Châteaux put a very nice notice in the rooms regarding "casual but elegant" dress.
