Thanks! It is my return flight that is being rescheduled. Instead of returning on a Sunday, I am now returning on the Monday. I just called my CC's insurance services rep and they told me such an incident would be considered to be a "flight delay" and I would be entitled to the $500 credit; however, I was mainly wondering if I could easily charge $500 in clothes as credit. Perhaps a nice pair of shoes? Do y'all think my CC's insurance service would accept this "travel expense"? Thanks again :-)
I expect that the expenses have to be "reasonable." Is this with US Bank? Regardless of the card issuer, I suggest that you review the coverage's terms and conditions as set forth in the benefits booklet that you were undoubtedly sent when you received your card. If you no longer have the booklet, call your card issuer and request a replacement.

If you do intend to make a claim, make sure that you have documentation of the original flight -- including the fact that it was charged to your credit card -- and information from the airline indicating that your ticketed flight was cancelled, and that you are being re-accommodated on the following day. I would try very hard to get documentation from the airline that there is no earlier flight that they can accommodate you on.
