Not sure what the meals were offered but I have seen cases where they were serving both a hot and cold entree. Sometimes, for various reasons it takes longer to heat up the hot entree so they serve all the cold entrees then serve the hot ones once they are heated to an acceptable temperature.
Last couple of flights I have been on they served all the pre order meals then those that ordered on the plane. Definitely took a long while to get food (SDC onto the flight).
