Marriott Sukhumvit Soi 57 also wins over SGS for me due to the rooftop, and I've not yet stayed in the Surawongse (doing a 1 night stay this week at least). Any of these hotels would be great in most cities, but Bangkok is very competitive.

But Sukhothai, Peninsula, and MO outclass them all. Usually at 2x the Marriott hotel rates, but sometimes not (via FHR or other discounts).
