When there was the strike, none of them had strike photos but some did post some Instagram Stories about the strike, which is a short video that is online for only 24 hours. That leads me to believe that some flight attendants want to create an image, maybe be a brand influencer, on Instagram. Is it encouraged by the airline?

I don't see these kind of behavior in Instagram for other airlines. Maybe a little with China Airlines. In contrast, one American Airlines flight attendant shows her travels to exotic locations but it's also posts personal pictures, friends, boyfriend, etc.
This is quiet normal for Asian flight attendant (except japan). The attendant job is very glamorous in Asia. Hence a lot of flight attendant uses IG, FB, and YouTube to manage their own image and sell/recommend things. This range from cosmetics, fashions..... etc.
