I suspect you answered to the wrong person. You probably were answering to clublounger, not me.

I am the type who always does counter check out to make sure everything is accurate, especially get a folio print out / email - in case the stay and points not posted and Marriott wants the proof of the stay... This has happened on 2 stays in Australia last year. Thankfully this year so far all are domestic stays, incl a 5th night free award stay, postings have been timely, especially on the 5th night free award stay that the posting was next day after check out - very impressed. However, precise this is not an ALWAYS experience like some claim, more often than not, it is the opposite. Therefore I remain to do counter check out.

I never receive a folio emailed to me in the middle of the night or in the morning of check out - never.
But that does not mean I cannot verify the invoice right at the front desk at check out - that is when I take a good look on the folio to make sure it is what it should be. There are times some small items that should be removed but not due to system default? Such as higher speed wifi should be free for elite, or a bottle of water being charged while nothing is consumed at that outrageous 15 euro Evian?

Now is I dont understand what you are talking to ME assuming I am those who claim they get their folio ahead of time therefore be able to see the accuracy... LOL.

One thing I did do IF the TV is so equipped - that some properties have the functions to check your folio under Guest Services - but even at full service brands, such function is not available. If it is available, you certainly can check the accuracy of the folio ahead of time.
