To offer another perspective, and if we are comparing AF to SQ, as Bullspread said they both have strengths and weaknesses in very different areas.

For ground services, AF beats everyone. Period. SQ ground services for First Class passengers are actually shockingly lacking, even in SIN (the only nice thing is the dedicated check in terminal but after that, you're on your own and the Private Room isn't that nice). With AF you're escorted all the time, service is personalized, food in the lounge is Michelin restaurant level, lounge attendants know your name, etc.

In the air, SQ pulls all the stops with caviar, lobster, champagne etc but I find most of their dishes a little uninspired - albeit very good. AF's food is usually a little more refined and original (I know some people really disagree with this). I also much prefer the seat on AF, especially in seated position.

Service wise, AF service is usually uber professional and polished yet relaxed enough that you don't feel "pressured" by formality - it's very French. I've found SQ crews to vary more, surprisingly, but it is usually more formal. I agree that they are more reactive when you need something though.

But at the end of the day, and to answer your initial question, if lounge and ground services is what you are after, then AF is the way to go, no questions asked.
