Point that out in your claim and calculate the comparable pretax price for them. Every once in a while you get a bad agent who does not get the tax thing ... cancel, rebook and refile in that case.
I appreciate your clarification. Painful to see multiple denials with arguing "the OTA requires immediate payment", "superior doesn't match with deluxe" etc etc. The tax issue which we discussed brought another denial this morning!
