Yes, Strictly speaking this post should be on the Star Alliance website, or on UA etc etc etc

But this is such big news that I think it deserves to be posted here. Essentially kiss goodbey to Mileage Plus, Global rewards etc and welcome a new Star Alliance earn and burn frequent flyer program.
