Due to a series of unfortunate events, I missed an Outbound flight I had booked on BA. I have always assumed based on what I've read on here that if you do, the rest of the ticket gets cancelled.

I re-booked a brand new return flight with EasyJet and everything was fine. Travelling back on the return my EasyJet flight was very delayed, so I thought I'd try and check in on the BA app - which worked and issued a boarding pass and got on the plane.

Did I get lucky here, or mis-understand some policy? Quite an expensive mistake either way but good to know for future.
