SSSS on international flights are usually random one of occurances. If you get it for purely domestic flights it’s not random and you most likely will be getting it for 6 months or so. Probably has something to do with travel history outside of the US to certain countries
I have Global Entry and the TSA doesn't have any record of my travel to "certain countries" but I will get SSSS once a year on a domestic flight and precheck the rest. I'll get it a couple of times a year on international flights.
