Seems anybody looking for an upgrade, with whatever Emirates status, would inquire long before they get on the plane. With only 6 seats in F, and being how awesome it looks to be, I can’t imagine there ever being ‘space available’ on board?

You can pay cash on board. It will be the same price as at check in unless they are offering special upgrades to fix an oversold Y cabin.

One significant advantage of on board upgrade in either miles or cash is that you don’t pay tax (for example APD for flights departing the UK).
