I don't check bags either...one suitcase and a backpack is enough for my travels. But stories like this only encourage me to keep putting my bag in the overhead compartment. I'm not interested in watiing 45 minutes to an hour for my bag! Though MCI and MSP are the two airports I usually frequent. I have traveled to Atlanta and Tampa with my mom recently (who does check lugggage) and WN misplaced her suitcase in Atlanta and we got a voucher out of it and it came within a few minutes in Tampa.
