I think there's a distinction between "feeling sorry" for people who work and acknowledging the difference between working for a living and flying because you love the air.

To suggest that Ben is in the same financial situation as your average flight attendant (or, likely, any flight attendant), is....a choice.

If your point is simply that, in comparing conditions of various workplaces, flight attendants and pilots don't have it the absolute worst, I'd agree (on average). But that's irrelevant to the point that they do not labor "for the sake of flying.". To suggest that all jobs have the same impact on one's long-term happiness is a strange choice.
