March/April data points
Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile - 9000 pts Premium Suite Upgrade - booked and received Executive Suite, no further upgrade (description says Eiffel Tower view but our suite didn't have it so assuming they didn't give us a nice one)
Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo - Points - booked and received base room, best non suite room was sold out, further upgrade was available with cash copay only
Hyatt Regency Tokyo - 1-4 FN - booked base room, upgraded to best non suite non club room as per T&Cs, no prompting needed. Great view of PHT, the park and Fuji San
Park Hyatt Bangkok - Points - booked base room, received 1 King Corner (best non suite), hotel was sold out, a Hyatt CC contact close with the hotel/GM intervened so YMMV
Andaz London - Points - booked base room, received 1 King Deluxe (best non suite), no prompting was needed. The room was a corner room and the layout TBH quite weird.
Andaz Munich - Prive - booked base room, ambiguous but affirmative 24-hour response, received Andaz Suite (standard suite) upon check in. No prompting was needed.
Andaz Shanghai - Prive - booked base room, 24-hour response with 1 category upgrade to 1 King View, received 1 King Corner upon check in, prompting was needed. 1 King Bed Deluxe (best non suite room) was available for sale but we were denied it after multiple escalations. Still in the process of further post-stay escalation regarding this policy violation.
Park Hyatt Shanghai - Prive - booked base room, 24-hour response with 1 category upgrade to 1 King Deluxe, received 1 King Bund View (1 more cat up) upon check in after asking. Made a point to FD after check in that 1 King Bund View Deluxe (best non suite room) was still available for sale for the night, property eventually agreed to move us after minor pushback.
Park Hyatt Saigon - 1-4 FN - booked base room, received base room. Hotel was eventually completely sold out but during day of check in rooms 1-2 cats up (1 King Garden View/1 King Deluxe) were intermittently available, but we didn't escalate - partly because we booked airport pickup which resulted in in-room check in early in the morning, was not bothered to prompt.
Park Hyatt NYC - Prive 3N package - booked Studio Suite, denied prearrival confirmed upgrade, agent confirmed us into 1 BR suite (1 cat up / Park suite) day of arrival, further upgraded to 1 BR View Suite (West Side Suite) at check in, no prompting needed. We later added on an additional night using points (base room) and the property didnt make us move and also honored Prive benefits for that night. Great. Funny thing is I actually wrote to their revenue department and they wanted $300/n to have us confirmed in the West Side Suite for our stay, this offer being on the night before check in. Ended up paying $0/n extra.
Next up - GH Berlin - Prive - confirmed 1 cat for now but we will see. Just noticed that the property has 'played tricks' and reclassified its former largest room into a 'Junior Suite' perhaps to avoid upgrading us elites into them that easily.
