Great report - and your experiences pretty much mirror those that my wife and I have had flying transatlantic with Norwegian over the past few years (BGO-JFK, BOS<->LGW, BOS<->CDG).

The single most important piece of information I think I could give to my American friends would be LEARN TO TRAVEL LIGHT. Look up where there will be laundry facilities at your destination so you don't have to pack as many clothes. When I think of the differences between how I travelled in the 80s and 90s versus how I travel now - it's almsot laughable.
