Do it. There are plenty of threads about hotels in Singapore and and it is generally accepted that for USD $150 you should be able to get a decent hotel.
Another warning if above sounds too expensive - don't try AirBnB. It is made illegal here and there could be serious consequences not only for hosts, but guests as well.
