Having lived in scorpion territory much of my life, I'm not much troubled by their presence or passing nearby. After all, holstered (on my feet), I carry 2 effective scorpion killers almost every where I go except bed & shower. Even small caliber flip-flops can batter your average scorpion lifeless with a single shot.
....But then, I did live on a ship for 3 years, an old vessel with rats both bold and vigorous, My ship was forced to affix the rat guards on her mooring lines in reverse, so that our rats could not slip ashore to terrorize Mediterranean seaports and their inhabitants, rodent or human.
