1) Identify location
2) Fire up Marriott.com and Tripadvisor (also Hilton and Hyatt)
3) Pick ideal property based on location, reviews, age of property, etc.
In recent years I have had good stays at Marriott, Residence Inn, Ritz Carlton, W, Westin, Luxury Collection, JW Marriott, Autograph, aloft, etc. The only brand I tend to avoid is Sheraton in the US.
