Definitely legacy Starwood:
- The hotels are much more to my personal preference - Marriott hotels will make only a few entries in my top 100 hotels in the group
- The promised benefits are much better in Starwood hotels - From guaranteed standard award availability, breakfast provided, no luxury opt-outs, no nonparticipating properties
- Starwood properties are in turn significantly more reliable at actually meeting their requirements than legacy Marriott properties are at meeting theirs (even if it's less in the first place)
- Legacy Starwood hotels are more likely to have well trained staff and GMs which recognise and celebrate programme elites than Marriotts, far too many of whom clearly see the programme as a cost to shirk
