I have a $559 OW LAX-JFK in J, but it departs at 3:15 pm and I'd love to arrive in time for a night on the town.
In my experience, once Meeting Services applies the BXP1, it's nearly impossible to get anyone else to touch the ticket (really bad IRROPS has been my only exception to that). So personally I'd strongly recommend doing SDFC first and then calling in the BXP1. Unless it looks like your flight is selling out up front, I wouldn't worry about finding A inventory... they seem to be pretty good about keeping it available.
All that said, I don't think I've ever tried doing an A to A SDFC where I'm in A because of a BXP1. So maybe give it a shot and see what happens?
