The disincentive for Circle Pacific trips for the Business traveller is the long route via SE Asia to the US from Oz. Otherwise everyone would take it becasue of the very high Business fares Oz to USA.
Conversely, of course, the 'need' to go via Hong Kong or Singapore or Tokyo would be a major incentive for some of us.
If you can, take an extra day or two on the way and stop somewhere...
