I have my wife connecting from a united flight to a Westjet flight, she has no checked bags.

My questions is, can she complete the connection airside or will she have to re-clear security at the e gates?
If I were to give her a inbound flight on Alaska, I'm assuming she would not have to re-clear security since Alaska and Westjet are both in the E gate, correct?
