Sounds like you were bumped by a Federal air marshal (FAM). If that's the case you can't get your original seat back (and AA isn't allowed to tell you the reason you were bumped), but I'd try calling back to get a more sympathetic agent who might be able to un-check-in your husband and assign you seats together.
