While the carrier personnel reference to standard IATA definitions of stopovers is incorrect, it has caused a lot of problems for many.
Those incorrect IDB are usually same day connections in country C returning to country A. 2-3 days stop in HK is more than enough to avoid that confusion. Though if it were emirates they would probably deny incorrect due to separate tickets.
